What the Raindance AI template is, and what it isn’t
“Raindance” is Dave’s duet with the Nigerian singer Tems, released in October 2025 from his album The Boy Who Played the Harp, which went on to top the UK singles chart. In its video, a man sits at the end of a wooden pier, a woman in white walks toward him singing, and the two end up together on the sand as the sun goes down. From late September 2026, TikTok filled with AI remakes of that scene starring couples, friends, cartoon characters and mascots. People call it Raindance AI, Rain Dance AI or the Dave and Tems Raindance meme.
This page is the template version: the scene, camera and timing are fixed, and you only supply the two faces. It is not the Raindance Film Festival or its AI filmmaking course, not a prompt for dancing in the rain, and not the Raindance shower head.
| You add | Two photos, one person in each (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB) |
|---|---|
| You get | A 4:3 MP4 of the pier scene with your two people, the soundtrack already in the file |
| Lengths | 5, 10, 15, 30 seconds, all from the start of the scene |
| Models | Seedance 2.5 (default; 480p, 720p or 1080p; the only one that makes 30 seconds) or MiniMax H3 (720p, up to 15 seconds) |
| Prompt | None; the shot list and both roles are built in |
| Where it runs | Any phone or computer browser; no app, no editing software |
| Cost | 39 to 928 credits per video, shown before you generate |
Which photo plays which part
The two parts are fixed by what each person does, not by which side of the frame they stand on, so they never swap halfway through. The times below are from the full 30-second version; shorter videos stop earlier in the same order.
| Time | Shot | Who is on screen |
|---|---|---|
| 0–3 s | Alone at the end of the pier, then turning as someone appears | Photo 1, with Photo 2 walking in far behind |
| 3–6 s | Singing to camera over open water | Photo 2 |
| 6–10 s | Sitting close together on the sand | Both; Photo 2 sings, Photo 1 listens |
| 10–18 s | Close-ups on the pier, hand at the collar | Photo 2 |
| 18–24 s | Kneeling on the pier, filming with a camera | Photo 1, with Photo 2 posing at the far end |
| 24–30 s | Silhouettes on the beach at sunset, then back on the sand | Both |
A 5-second video ends on the first solo verse, 10 seconds reaches the two of you on the sand, 15 seconds adds the pier close-ups, and only 30 seconds includes the camera and sunset shots. The 30-second version holds its last frame for about two seconds at the end.
Raindance AI examples
Four Raindance AI examples show how far the same scene can stretch: photoreal or cartoon, landscape or vertical.
Raindance AI app, browser template, CapCut template or a general video AI?
There are four ways people make this video. They differ in how close the result gets to the real scene and how much work you do yourself.
| Option | What you do | How close to the Raindance scene |
|---|---|---|
| This browser template | Add two photos, pick a length, download | Follows the pier scene shot for shot, with both roles and the soundtrack |
| CapCut-style video templates | Drop clips or photos into a timeline of effects | Edits your own footage to the beat; it does not put you into the pier scene |
| Phone dance apps | Animate one selfie with a preset dance | Generic dance moves, not this scene or this duet |
| General video AI (Runway, Kling, Veo, Pika) | Write prompts, guide each shot, then stitch and add music yourself | Can get the mood of a sunset pier, but not the original cuts and performance without a lot of retries |
If you want a different trend scene, the same two-photo idea works in the
APT AI video, the Smalltown Boy AI video and the zombie AI trend. To recast two people in a clip of your own, use duo swap.
Posting your Raindance video to TikTok and Reels
- The song is already in the file. You can post the download as it is. If TikTok or Instagram mutes it or limits its reach because of the music, mute the original sound in their editor and add “Raindance” from the in-app music library instead; that also files your post under the trend sound.
- It is 4:3, not vertical. Feeds show it with bars above and below, which keeps the whole scene in view. To fill the screen, put it on a 9:16 canvas in CapCut or another video editor and zoom in; that crops the sides of the scene.
- Check both faces before you post. Watch the close-ups and the camera shot; if one face drifts, try again with a clearer photo of that person.

Phone photo checklist
- One person per photo, face to the camera. A straight-on selfie in daylight beats a group shot or a side profile.
- No sunglasses, masks or heavy filters. Beauty filters and AI-edited faces make the model guess, and the close-ups show it.
- Clothes come from your photo. If the photo shows an outfit, that is what each of you wears on the pier; a tight face crop gets plain everyday clothes instead.
- Real people, adults, with their agreement. Pets and cartoon characters are untested and may be refused by the photo review.
- Put the singer in Photo 2. Photo 2 carries most of the close-ups, so give that slot the clearest face.
